Lash Extensions
Lash extensions are a great luxury service that enables you to wake up every morning feeling put together with fuller/longer/darker eyelashes and saves you time in your morning routine by eliminating the need for mascara and eyelash curlers. Lash extensions are a professional service that is provided by a licensed and trained esthetician such as myself where I use a small amount of medical-grade glue to adhere semi-permanent faux silk, mink, or synthetic lashes one by one to your natural eyelashes. The length, volume, and thickness of your lashes are completely customizable to the everyday look you are going for. Many clients who enjoy lash lifts, but have lashes that are not naturally very long or thick, opt for this service after trying the lash lift and tint first. The optimal candidate for this service has healthy natural eyelashes, but are shorter and less thick and dense than you desire them to be. This service is also for clients who prefer or require a fuller and slightly more noticeable look than what a lash lift and tint can give them. A common question is if lash extensions damage the natural eyelashes. Lash extensions DO NOT damage your natural eyelashes unless your provider is not following proper procedures to avoid this and/or the client does not follow aftercare instructions properly.
If you're a first-timer, when booking your appointment, keep in mind the following:
-
You will need to avoid getting your lash extensions wet or near steam for 24 hours after each appointment, so plan your daily shower accordingly.
-
Please arrive at your appointments with no makeup on your eyes (eyeliner, eyeshadow, or mascara)
-
Please arrive at your appointments with no contacts in and/or bring a contact case and glasses if you normally wear contacts. You just need to remove them for the duration of the service, but can re-insert them after completion of the service.
-
Expect to spend $15.00 on aftercare products at your first appointment to purchase lash shampoo/brush/re-usable spoolie. It it is highly recommended to cleanse your lash line 1-2x day using these products to avoid a buildup of dead skin cells/oil/makeup/etc. to avoid styes, infections, etc., and also to ensure your lash extensions last as long as possible. Without cleansing your skin's natural oils off the lash line daily, the oil buildup can weaken the glue and cause lashes to fall out prematurely.
-
Your first appointment will require you to lie down for approximately 2 hours with your eyes closed.
-
It is recommended to avoid drinking caffeine right before appointments as this makes eyes twitch and can make people restless.
-
There is a bathroom in the building for client use and I recommend going to the bathroom right before appointments to avoid interruption, but if needed just let me know if you need a bathroom break. It is possible but takes extra time and may cause your lashes to be less full upon completion of the service due to loss of time.
-
Please notify anyone who needs to contact you daily that you will not have access to your phone for a couple of hours. I recommend silencing your phone before sessions and leaving it with your coat/purse. You will not be allowed to open your eyes during the application process to ensure safety.
-
Overall, the process is typically painless, calming, and relaxing. Many people even use this time as their designated restorative time to take a "lash nap". My advice is to take this time for yourself. I am open to however you'd like to use it and will follow your lead on whether you like to chat and vent, not talk at all & put earbuds in to listen to a podcast, or take a much-needed nap. Use this time to relax however that looks for you.

Lash extensions are not permanent because your natural eyelashes (which is where the faux lashes are attached) shed on a consistent natural cycle and the medical-grade adhesive lasts up to 3-5 weeks on lashes if they haven't fallen out naturally yet. For this reason, to maintain your beautiful new lash extensions you will need to schedule regular fill appointments to keep them up so that I can re-attach new extensions where they have fallen out and remove outgrown lashes to avoid damage. Fill appointments should be scheduled every 2-4 weeks depending on your natural lash-shedding cycle (everyone is slightly different).
-
For fill appointments please take a good look at your lashes a few days before your fill appointment to determine if the amount of lashes you have left is accurate for the type of fill appointment you have scheduled. For example: if you have a 2-week fill scheduled, but you notice you have less than 70% of your lashes left on, then you may need to see if you can change or reschedule your appointment to a 3-week fill. If you do come in with less than 70% of your lashes for a 2-week fill, then I will do my best to fill as much of your lashes as possible in that time slot. Please know that your lashes most likely will not be full by the end of the appointment and I will recommend scheduling a longer fill for your next visit so we can "catch up" on filling them in so you aren't chronically having less and less fullness to your lashes due to lack of appropriate time to complete them.
